Supports Women in Engineering

WomEng (Women in Engineering) in partnership with the De Beers Group and the Debmarine – Namdeb Foundation with support from the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture for the first time in Namibia hosted a half day GirlEng #AskAnEngineer workshop for more than 130 high schools girls from the Khomas Region. The GirlEng programme is a high school intervention programme to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) awareness for girls as well as a specific focus on future careers in the engineering and tech industries. The GirlEng programme also provides mentorship for the high school students through a trained group of female engineering students part of the WomEng network. The highlight of the day was the LaunchPad Workshop which involved the distribution of pink hard hats, were to be decorated with personalised inspirational messages from each of the girls.
